Singing teacher/vocal coach Ruth M Wood CT ABRSM – Everyone has a voice. I can help you find yours! If you are already a performer I will help you achieve your potential through good technique, performance interpretation and an understanding of different genres. No auditions or voice checks before you begin with me – just a willingness to learn! If you would like to take exams, I offer all accredited Boards, including the very popular Trinity Musical Theatre. I cover any genre from classical to pop and rock. Learn to do it safely – and well! All styles taught including classical, jazz, middle of the road, musical theatre – even karaoke!!! Techniques from beginner to advanced. Exams all recognised boards. Ages taught from 10 to 110!

I trained at Royal Northern College of Music, and then went on the road with a folk group! Thereafter my career included oratorio, light opera, jazz, folk and middle of the road. 3 Cds, television performances include Songs of Praise and Prom appearances. Member of CBSO choir, solo work and semi chorus – many recordings mainly with Sir Simon Rattle conducting. I have appeared in concert houses around the world including Sydney, Vienna and Vancouver. Radio appearances include regular appearances at Brecon Cathedral Jazz Service.

I ran “Vocali” G+S Group and was the soprano and director of “Broads on Broadways” I toured with the jazz pianist Duncan Swift – ending with his tragic early death.

My teaching career spans nearly 30 years, and I am a member of the Association of Teachers of Singing and the British Voice Association.

I attend regular training sessions to make sure I am always up to date!

I moved to Rubery over 10 years ago since when I have taught throughout the Midlands in private schools, drama schools, and acting schools, as well as my own studio.

Rates: £13 per half hour or pro rata. Lessons when required – weekly, fortnightly or monthly.
