Marko Lampas came to America in his teens from a small town called Florina, in Greece. As a young tenor he received scholarships and grants from the Metropolitan Opera, The Curtis Institute and The Juilliard School among others, where he became a member of The American Opera Center performing the title tenor role of Viscardo in U.S. premiere of Mercadantes Il Giuramento.
He was a member in the famous Maria Callas Master Classes and can be heard, as a young man, on the complete 40 hours CD Rom. He has been performing for the past thirty years in many regional opera companies with close to thirty leading tenor roles in his repertoire. To name a few: Teatro Municipal in Sao Paulo, Brasil under the baton of Maestro Tullio Colacioppo, singing Turiddu, in Cavalleria Rusticana, in Puccinis Tosca as Cavaradossi in Sarasota Opera, Long Island Opera along with Mark Delavan as Scarpia and Palm Beach Opera under Maestro Anton Guadagno in Pucciniâ Manon Lescaut. He has appeared in Concert in the U.S.A. and in Greece. (Duet Concerts Around The World In Opera And Song).
Known for his Stage Directing talents, he was Artistic Director of the GENESIS OPERA and directed, among other works, Ariadne auf Naxos-Il Tabarro, Suor Angelica and Cavalleria Rusticana.
As a teacher he is helping a new generation achieve their place in the musical arena. He specializes in the tenor and soprano repertoire, giving Master Classes and Heraklione Arts Studio performances along with his wife, soprano, Barbara Iona Miller in New York City.
