Kate hails originally from the North East. She qualified with BAHons in History from Durham University before moving to London to pursue her dream of becoming a singer, beginning with a postgraduate course in Musical Theatre at the Royal Academy of Music. She was awarded the DipRAM for her study year, gained a teaching qualification (LRAM) and has since been made an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music (ARAM) for excellence in her field. Kate continues to study voice, a lifelong interest, and has now taken courses in Levels 1,2 and an advanced course in the Estill method.
Alongside her professional work Kate has always enjoyed working with private students at her home in Bushey, Hertfordshire (approx 20 minutes from Euston on public transport). She has taken performance classes and one-to-one singing lessons at several colleges including LSMT, Millennium, MHTC and RSAMD. She was also, most recently, the Assistant Children’s Director at Charlie and the Chocolate Factory where she thoroughly enjoyed working with the extremely talented ‘mini cast’ on their performances.
Kate enjoys working with singers of all ages and experience and will tailor the lesson plan to the individual. Students can, if they wish, learn basic piano skills and study music theory as well as singing to provide a good foundation in general musicianship. Kate has also helped people prepare for public speaking and worked with lots of ‘non-singing’ actors who want to develop their skill set.
Kate also, alongside her good friends Sherrie Pennington and Annalene Beechey, runs a bespoke Theatre Workshop Company, Triple Threat Training. Visit us on Facebook/Twitter (search @TripleTTraining).
