Mezzo soprano, Christy Sze-pui Li, has just won the First Prize of Golden Classical Music Awards (New York) International Music Competition. Being selected as the Most Outstanding Singer in the 2nd International Opera Exchange Masterclass in 2016, she received a scholarship from Progetto Voce to study singing with Maestro Silvio Zanon and Chiara Angella in Italy.
Christy has obtained MA Music in Vocal Performance with distinction at the University of York, and MA Music degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She had vocal lessons with Chiara Angella, Silvio Zanon, Siu-kwan Chan and Yvonne Seymour. She learnt performance styles from Professor Peter Seymour and Ms Nancy Loo. She has obtained ATCL diploma in piano performance.
As a singer, she has performed in carnivals, banquets, musicals and recitals, and sung in film music soundtrack in China, Italy, Australia, the US, the UK and Hong Kong. She made her debut by playing the role of Maria in The Sound of Music and later sung the role of Madame de la Haltiere in Cendrillon in York Grand Opera House. She sang as the Alto soloist in the performance of Haydn’s Nelson Mass and Bach’s St John Passion during her stay in York, which was highly commended by the audience. Being an active vocalist in Hong Kong, she has sung in several operas including Madama Butterfly, Cosi fan tutti, Tosca, Das Land des Lächelns, etc. Recently, she just cooperated with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra for singing as the Sorceress and Spirit roles in Purcells opera, Dido and Aeneas. She is active in vocal performance, as well as music education.
Christy offers British and Italian style vocal training to both adults and children.
