Brendan Weakliam PGDipRNCM BMu

I am a professional classical singer, actor and jazz singer-pianist. I have a Postgraduate Diploma in Singing Performance from the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester; a first class Bachelor Degree in Music Performance from the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama, Dublin; and an ABRSM Music Diploma in Singing Teaching (Distinction), trained as an actor at the London Centre for Theatre Studies and have an Advanced Certificate Distinction in Piano.

I have been teaching privately for nearly 15 years now, alongside my performing career as a singer, actor and musician. During that time I have also taught in a number of music and theatre schools in the UK and Ireland.

As a singing teacher, I have taught across a broad range of styles, specialising in classical, opera and musical theatre. As a drama teacher I have taught across a broad range from beginners through GCSE and A-Level students to students preparing for drama school auditions. As a piano teacher I specialise in classical piano and teach many other styles. I have taught singers and pianists ranging from professionals going for auditions to complete beginners doing their first exams and performances. As a music theory teacher I have prepared students from ABRSM Grade 1 to 8 as well as students preparing for GCSE’s and A-levels.

As a professional singer I have performed in venues all over the UK and Ireland in operas and opera galas, musicals, oratorios, classical song recitals, and concerts incorporating jazz, musical theatre and popular song. As an actor, I have performed in London’s West End and in various venues in the UK and Ireland.

I teach singers and actors of all ages and abilities from professionals to beginners.

I help prepare my students for all kinds of performing situations: auditions, exams, concerts, choirs, gigs, singing for friends…

I specialize in singing technique, vocal confidence, audition/performance technique, voice for actors and acting technique.

Come along and give it a try – you never know what you might be able to do with your voice!
