An experienced and compassionate teacher, I teach classical technique for a contemporary repertoire in Edinburgh, Moray and The Highlands.
As a professional jazz singer the repertoire I am most familiar with is jazz, but I also teach people interested in singing Music Theatre, Pop, Folk and Singer/songwriters.
Lessons comprise 50% technique, that is breath control, vocal support and voice production with the aid of technical exercises and 50% work on the repertoire of your choice, with a wide variety of sheet music available to assist in selecting songs.
My focus is on excellent pitch, providing a solid ground for the voice using the body as a support, musicality, a free and relaxed singing stlye and great storytelling through interpretation of the lyric. My work is holistic and takes into account the unique experience and individuality that each person brings.
All ages from 12 years upwards are welcome. I studied music at Stevenson College, Edinburgh and have been taught by members of Scottish Opera and several distinguished international Jazz singers.
I can provide a variety of workshops including: jazz vocal workshops for children and adults: Performance Practice for more experienced singers: Learn to Sing workshops for all levels. Singing in corporate settings for team building etc: Singing for people living with dementia and their carers.
