![]() John Hywel Williams A graduate of the University of Wales in Music and Education, a Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music in pianoforte, a Licentiate of Music in composition, orchestration, history of music and the psychology of music tuition of both the Trinity College of Music, London and the London College of Music, John Hywel Williams has travelled extensively both nationally and internationally as a conductor of a variety of choirs and orchestras.Heralded by The Times as ‘the Svengali of the baton’, John Hywel has conducted a wealth of performances of diverse works with choirs and orchestras in leading concert halls throughout the UK and in countries such as Russia, USA, Canada, Romania, Poland, Yugoslavia, France, The Netherlands, Bulgaria, Belgium, Denmark, Austria, East and West Germany, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.In addition to being the first conductor to take a British choir behind the former Iron Curtain of Eastern Europe, John Hywel has given a staggering number of broadcasts for both television and radio in the UK and abroad. As a reflection upon his achievements as a choral conductor, John Hywel Williams was chosen as the subject of an international television documentary which was broadcast in over 160 countries throughout the world to a global audience of over 400,000,000 people.
