Ana has an wonderful ability to instill confidence and inspire others with her relaxed and friendly approach to vocal coaching. She really brings out the best in her students.

I did the refreshers course with Ana and although a beginner, I was made to feel welcome and comfortable, and enjoyed it from start to finish. It is relaxed, though focused, and informative without being too heavy on the theory side. I'd advise (and already have) anyone wanting to get in touch with a command of their vocal expression to check out The Vocal Athlete first to see if one of the courses fit their needs. I wish Ana and the company sincere best wishes for success.

Ana has an exceptional talent for bringing out the best in people and getting them to see what they are capable of.
I really enjoyed the workshop I attended, Ana covered so much in terms of techniques and styles. She has helped me rediscover my passion for singing!

I spent a weekend on the two day's beginner’s course. All of us started the first morning apprehensive and nervous – we were beginners! Within a short space of time Ana, had relaxed us, changed our frame of mind, and from then on we were off. The first few hours were spent understanding the way our vocal system works which Ana explained simply and clearly – absolutely necessary and now, because I understand what is happening when the voice breaks into the falsetto for instance I can create the conditions and control for me to do this – I would never have believed it! With the theory in our pockets, we then started to explore it in practice, having fun, laughs and amazing each other in the group and ourselves by our progress. For me, I have really discovered my falsetto and now instead of dropping an Octave when I get to the high notes, I can have a go at them and Ana created the right atmosphere for us to have a go – we weren’t embarrassed to make all sorts of strange noises in our attempts to explore our voices and consequently we achieved results. If you are a beginner – don’t miss this opportunity of a superb two days. Some of us had travelled a good distance to be on this course (Cornwall was the furthest) – Ana inspires you to go that extra mile to achieve! If you are a beginner or relatively new to singing, don’t miss this course. I can only imagine that the intermediate and advanced courses must be of a similar high calibre, one thing I can categorically say is that it will be fun – worth every penny.

I have always wanted to learn to sing and signed up for Ana's two day beginner's workshop. It was one of the best weekend's I have ever had and I was suprised how much I learnt in such a short time. Ana is a really gifted teacher and has an amazing ability. She is able to nuture, guide and support people. She created an environment where everyone had an experience of going beyond their expectations and had the opportunity to shine. To anyone who is unsure just go for it! you won't regret it!

Regarding the Professional Studio Vocals Weekend, March 2006. The way I felt at the end of the course was that I really didn’t want it to end. I wanted to go back on the Monday!! I had bonded with complete strangers in a matter of hours, it was a special experience that brings people together. One can also learn from one’s own reactions to working under pressure and working in groups, as well as observing other people’s behaviours. This course has renewed my enthusiasm for singing and I will certainly consider booking another course. The Vocal Athlete studio in Sutton is a real retreat and in peaceful surroundings.
I have gained a new understanding of the vocal anatomy and because I had some nodules removed from my larynx in 1991, I especially want to protect my vocal chords. I will benefit from the techniques that I have learnt to avoid any further damage. I’ve also recognised that due to certain issues, I will need to improve my confidence/self-esteem and I will look to Ana to help me with this.
